March Madness has begun. I’m a little too busy in between work, the infinite madness and my intention to go see Obama speak tomorrow. So, I’m phoning in today’s post. Maybe you’ll like it, it’s me and SEOHack arguing about Tumblr, Rick Rolls and the state of the Web.

SEOHack: The more tumblr posts i read, the more i dislike it

SEOHack: rickroll?

Syzlak: i hate tumblr

SEOHack: wtf?

Syzlak: rickroll

SEOHack: me too

Syzlak: HAHAHAHAHA

Syzlak: did you get rolled?

SEOHack: i have no idea

Syzlak: that’s a meme btw

SEOHack: probably not. i don’t even know what the fuck it is

Syzlak: when someone makes you click a link under the belief that it’s for something else but in reality it’s rick astley

SEOHack: so, i’ve learned two things based on that

SEOHack: tumblr is worth even more hatred than i initially thought, and i really hate the interweb. we’re in a slow decline to becoming batteries. i’m going to improve my fence building skills

Syzlak: why MORE hatred????!?!?!

SEOHack: it’s one of those things that are hard to explain. i don’t know if it seems like tumblr is pushing tumblr or all the pissups they have or what El Tigre Hilker told me about how there’s argument in the tumblr community about the proper way to “tumbl” or not, but i just cannot bring myself to like it

Syzlak: ok

SEOHack: you know how there are just some people you don’t like, tumblr is a person i don’t like

Syzlak: i thought it was due to rickroll, cause i was going to say that has nothing to do with it at all

SEOHack: tumblr=criss angel

Syzlak: yes

SEOHack: i realize rickroll has nothing to do with tumblr, but it the fact there was a tumblr who tumbld another tumblr’s rickreel just caught my ire. rickreel is why i’m going to improve my fence building skills

Syzlak: i like it cause i’m an ass and i’d do that to somebody

SEOHack: you like the tumblr or the rickreel? i’m assuming the rickreel . . . .and yeah, it seems like fun

Syzlak: again, it’s: rickroll

SEOHack: but that gets more to the point that wikipedia devoted a long, detailed page to the history of the rickroll (and from what i understand, there are more detailed pages about it out there)

Syzlak: yup

SEOHack: it frightens me

Syzlak: you think they have a long entry about the practical joke?

SEOHack: i guess it’s something that i don’t care enough about, and i’m pissy about the fact that if i don’t know that rickreel is a fucking meme then i’m out of the loop and lousy at my job. it’s everything and nothing

SEOHack: it’s more of a symptom of how i feel about where this cesspit is headed. i accept that wikipedia is a pop culture wasteland. it’s just one of those things that one feels. can’t explain it. it just is. there is no intelligent way for me to put it without sounding like a paranoid tinfoil hat wearing motherfucker…which i am…but still
