Flash, a Wolf, and The Shirt and Tie
Posted on: November 1, 2007 by Syzlak
So whilst Stumbling I hit Graywolf’s blog and read a bit about a Shirt and Tie matching site.
The site is designed by Express, and it really is a good idea. I see too many professionals who have no idea what tie to go with what shirt. Even more I see the professional hipsters with the new designed dress shirts too confused as to what ties even work with solid black or green.
The problem with the site for me is that you never get linked to a product page (more on why later), meaning that if you liked the shirt, tie or both, you’re stuck in the shirt and tie matching machine. The links at the top of the page only get you to a more detailed explanation of the shirts on display, but never a product page. As a last resort I clicked the in the top right to “expressfashion.com” I would think this should take me to the Express storefront. Alas, it directs me nowhere.
After manually navigating to the storefront (hey, I wanted the black MX-1!), I find out that Express doesn’t even have an online store.
Oh. My. God.
So, Express seems to believe that this whole e-commerce fad is bound to blow over soon. Meanwhile, they’re advertising their shirts and ties (and other products) through really creative and somewhat innovative means.
This store’s online division needs to start talking to one another, and really make online work. Especially since, I’m not really the type to go into an Express if it isn’t for Current Future Ex-Mrs. Syzlak wanting to check for a skirt or sweater. Hell, I don’t go into most stores. Why?
Because I can shop online.
